I vote brass over plastic... simply for ruggedness. Brass ball valves, brass QDs... Id go brass. But, whatta I know?

heh, who dosn't like having brass ball(valve)s!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! ROFLMAO!!!:D LOL!! I have a cheap plastic valve that was quickly replaced with brass. I'd assume everyone would suggest stainless but it's kinda pricy. On a cooler mashtun I'd go brass. You can pick it up by the fitting and not worry if it's going to break. Lets face it yer cooler would probly break before the brass would!

The material isn't as important as the quality of the product. There are cheap brass valves just like there are cheap plastic ones. Go for the valve that appears to meet your needs and will give you the best service.
