Price of LME

I was at my local brew shop today to get some LME. It was either $23 or $26 for six pounds of extra light. Is that expensive for a LHBS or about normal? When I looked online at northern brewer, it was only about $16 for six pounds.

It's only $16.74 at Austin Home Brew as well.

My LHBS has 3 # DME for $16. Definitely more pricey than online. Yeast is also much more expensive at my LHBS (hence I'm freezing aliquots of my staters for future brews).

If I have time and plan ahead, I'll buy ingredients online. Otherwise, pay a little more at the brew shop. The good thing there is you have helpful, experienced people to talk to in the flesh. There's something to be said for that.

13.50 for 3# of DME at my LHBS. Seems on target for your 6# of LME price.
