For reasons both theological and astrological, I'm compelled to brew an Imperial Stout on the impending Winter Solstice. Fortunately my new keggle and hop stopper and such will all be here monday or tuesday (UPS willing), so I'll be able to do my first full volume boil.

Here's my recipe...adapted from Tom Mik's Imperial Stout from Beer Captured. Any comment suggestions for this solstice brew will be much appreciated.

Czar Pistolero's Imperial Stout

19 oz. US 80°L Crystal Malt
9 oz. British Black Patent Malt
9 oz. British Chocolate Malt
9 oz. Victory Malt
8 oz. British Roasted Barley

13.5 lb. Alexander's Pale LME
8 oz. Muntons Wheat DME
12 oz. Malto Dextrin

2 oz. Challenger @ 8% AA (16 HBU)
1½ oz. East Kent Goldings @ 5% AA (7.5 HBU)

1 tsp. Irish Moss

1¼ oz. Fuggles (Aroma)

WLP004 Irish Ale Yeast

OG: 1.108 - 1.109
FG: 1.030 - 1.031
SRM: 100+
IBU: 75
ABV: 10%

Did you get 1 of Sailors hop stoppers? Let me know how it works....Im about this close to getting one. Just waiting for feedback.:)
Yes, after the excellent reviews from Orrelse and Sudster and Sam I think too, I ordered that and a sight tube and the rest of the fittings I needed from TLS. Hopefully I'll post a review and some pics on wednesday.
