Sealing foil hop bags - clothes iron?

My local HBS sells pellet hops for $2/oz and know I can do MUCH better online, especially since I can buy 1lb hops for $8.

I dont have a vacuum sealer at home though, so keeping the bag sealed and the hops fresh could be a problem. HOWEVER, I have read that folks can seal the foil bag with a normal clothes iron set on medium-high.

Has anyone tried this/have any experience from it.

That LAST thing I want to do now is spend more money on more equipment!
