I'm installing a ball valve and thermometer on my 62-qrt Bayou Classic brew pot that I'm using on the burner from my turkey fryer and was wondering if I need some sort of heat shield/deflector to protect it...

Thank you,

Depends on how wide your pot is and how much of the heat from the flame reaches around the pot. I was getting bubbles in my site glass. I found some old round heat duct in the attic of my garage. I cut a 6x10 piece of metal and simply use my pot to pinch it between the pot and burner. I place it underneath my thermo/site glass combo and no more problems.
