One of the guys at work is paying me to develop a clone of Yellow Snow. It's a seasonal and he's really jonesing. I told him that I couldn't get it 100% (they use Dare and Risk malts... and I'm not that good yet...lol), but I would try.
Here's the info from their site:
Tasting Notes:
Pale golden in color with a hoppy fruity aroma. Big hop flavor up front complemented by medium body and hoppiness mid-pallet. Finishes with a characteristic lingering bitterness.

8 Ingredients:
Cara Foam, Melanoidin & Rogue Micro Barley Farm Dare™ & Risk™ Malts; Amarillo & Rogue Micro Hopyard Revolution Hops, Free Range Coastal Water & Pacman Yeast.

Specs:
15º PLATO
70 IBU
76 AA
14º Lovibond

I haven't had this beer in a while but I don't remember it being a 14 (that's why its only 11.) And the alcohol and IBU's are slightly high. Close enough to start with? Anyone have any suggestions that might help me out of the gate?

JSSTR8 -- did you end up brewing this recipe? If so, how did it turn out?? I'm looking for a good 5g AG Rogue Yellow Snow recipe to brew this up coming season.

If anyone else has a Rogue Yellow Snow Recipe please reply it would much appreciated.

THX

Did it a few times. We thought that the last one was real close. I found out that my brews come out two to three points darker then my software predicts, which is the reason for this one being low. I was also out of Revolution hops so I subbed with Tettenang.

Here is a side by side if my last batch. Mine was slightly more bitter and had alot more aroma (can't make an IPA without dry hops). Theirs has what I perceive as a hop sweetness that mine lacks. But it was very close.

Right on! That's what I'm looking to do (and your right about dry hops). :rockin: Thanks again for the recipe.

It is the glass that affects the flavor. Try it in a straight glass.

....... Also heard you drink it quicker in a curved glass.

The bottle has the ingredients. What does it say. I've not bought it for a long time, but it said 6 ingredients (versus the 8 noted previously):

2-row
Carafoam
Melanoiden
Amarillo
Water
PacMan yeast

The OP was copied from their site. But now it says:

7 Ingredients:
Cara Foam, Melanoiden & Great Western 2-Row Malts; Amarillo & Perle Hops, Free Range Coastal Water & Pacman Yeast.

Beer advocate still says:
8 Ingredients:
Cara Foam, Melanoiden & Rogue Micro Barley Farm Dare™ & Risk™ Malts; Amarillo & Rogue Micro Hopyard Revolution Hops, Free Range Coastal Water & Pacman Yeast.

Brewers will change their recipes sometimes depending on the availability of ingredients. They had been brewing this with their own barley and hops (minus the patented Amarillo). This may be what happened. I'll have to check a bottle next time I'm out. Or maybe they have an old version of their site up for some reason? Or maybe they just decided that they like the original recipe better?...

Alright I'm brewing this recipe now. Grains are steeping as I type this. Also, I'm using my new kettle from spikebrewing.com

I ferment at 60°. Not sure if that was in the original discussion.

It was in your recipe above. I brought my carboy down to the basement. The temp down is about 63 - 65. I hope it doesn't effect the fermentation to much.

That should be fine. I just read somewhere that Rogue ferments most of their beers at 60°. Pacman is a beast I have fermented it as low as 50° before.

Just had Yellow Snow for the first time on New Years and would like to find a partial mash recipe for this. It was similar to Sam Adams Whitewater IPA.

I believe that one pound of base grains is equal to 0.75 lbs LME or 0.60 lbs DME. So just take out the amount of base grains that you wish to sub and multiply by the appropriate number.
