Hey guys!

A new LHBS just opened up in St. Cloud, Fl (The home brew Store) saved my butt last week when I needed some extra 2-row to make a 10gal batch of pale ale. So i had them order me in a few sacks of grain

50# of 2row and 50# of rye

My question with the rye is how much is to much? And do you guys have a white labs yeast blend that you like over another when your making a American ale or IPA using rye?

i like 1272 in rye beers, white labs Cali V is the same yeast. really nice in a rye beer. in my last rye brew, i used ~16% flaked rye and ~11% rye, turned out very nice, but i'm sure you could use a lot more if you want a lot of rye flavor.

I like about 20% rye in my brews.

For yeast I use Wyeast and like 1272 or 1450 for these brews.
