I've been talking about wanting to brew for about a year now, and have a few friends in the area who do. Last week a buddy called me over because he was getting ready to make a batch, and was happy to show me how. To my surprise, when I arrived, he led me onto this forum to check recipes, then into his software to put together my own recipe. I designed a "Brown IPA" then we went to the local shop and purchased ingredients. By dinnertime I was putting my first batch in a carboy. I'm now excited to sample my first batch when it finishes, and to become a better brewer.
For those who'll ask, the basic recipe was:
Amber light
Chinook
Cascade
Northern brewer
Crystal 40
Some Browning Malta
(And other items - don't have the recipe on hand).
I hope to meet some good people, learn a lot, and build my own keggle before long.
