Can I call this an Imperial Irish Red Ale, or with all the hopping it's just an Imperial American Red Ale now?
Whatcha guys think? Anything looks like it needs to be changed or you would do differently? Should I mash in at 153 or go a little higher?
Thanks,
JD

Looks awesome. If anything, you could probably jack the hops a little bit more and still be in balance, but it all depends on what you're looking to accomplish. Personally, I'd do a little bit more late hop additions - and 30 minute additions make no sense to me (not long enough to maximize utilization, too long for any flavor or aroma to persist; what's the point?)

Looks like a nice e-Red. However IMO to relate more to it being Irish instead of American you may want to change the hops . They seem to represent more typicaly he Sierra (American) type. You may want to look into mix of the likes of Fuggles, or Tradition, or Northern Brewer, or Haullertau, or Tettnange, or a combo of two along with EKG. I agree to try to stay away from 30 minute additions. IBUs can be a bit higher but to your liking and use Irish Ale Yeast of course.

Looks like it will be a great brew. Go for it!

Think I am getting closer to what I wanna brew. It will be called an "Imperial Red Ale" according to the Brewers Association 2008 Beer Style Guidelines. What do you guys think? I changed up the hops and dropped my batch size to 6 gal. Also, I think I am bumping up my mash temp to 154. Too high/low? Was thinking this would add some nice body to the brew, but not too much for this style. Also, bumped up the color a bit.

Thanks,
JD
