Tasting Notes
Slight maltiness with a smooth hop finish.
This was my first brew on my new E-HERMs rig. Mash efficiency came out to 83%.

16 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) 76%
2 lbs Munich Malt (9.0 SRM) 9.5%
1 lbs Wheat Malt, Ger (2.0 SRM) 5%
1 lbs 8.0 oz Victory Malt (25.0 SRM) 7%
8.0 oz Acid Malt (3.0 SRM) 2.5%

1.5 oz Centennial [10.0%] - Boil 60 min 24.5 IBU
2.0 oz Cascade [5.5%] - Boil 10 min 6.5 IBU
2.5 oz Cascade [5.5%] - Boil 0 min 0 IBU

American Ale (Wyeast Labs #1056) 3 L starter from 2 smack packs

Mashed for 60 min @ 152 (1.5qt/lb)
Raised to 168 and held for 10 min.

Fly sparge to hit target boil volume. (14g on my system)

Hops left in the kettle during whirlpool and chilling. (Roughly 30 min)

The munich and victory malts really play well with the hops on this one and the wheat malt helps add to the body and mouth feel of this brew.

This one will be my new house pale.

Is this for a 10gal batch?
Looks good.

Yep. 10g into kegs.

This one has aged about 3 weeks in the keg and is really a good beer. Will be my house Pale for sure.

A good touch of malt with that great cascade hop flavor.

I think next time i will drop the bittering addition some. I think the extended whirlpool do to slow chill times gave more bitterness than is calculated.

For a 1.057 beer? Good Lord.

Are you planning for any dry hops?

I'm sure it worked out. Looks like a tasty brew.

According to MrMalty.com that is what was required based on the date on my yeast packs. I did have them in my fridge for about 6 weeks prior to pitching. This is also for a 10 gallon batch and not a 5.

I did not dry hop this batch as I do not usually dry hop my pales. I think you could use a couple ounces of cascade dry hop and it would go well.

Well this is my Next batch for sure!!
Cant wait!.

Let me know what you think of it! I think the next batch I will lower the bittering addition to 18-20 IBU. On my system we leave the hops in during chilling and that takes us 30-40 minutes. I think that gave us more bitterness than intended.

Keep us updated.
