Tonight I am brewing a X-mas APA and I am wondering what the general consensus is about what is better for adding aroma hops. Adding 1oz of Cascade plug hops at flameout or to the secondary later? Thanks in advance. Cheers!

I've always done both.

My next APA will be an experiment in no dry hopping however. An IPA I had for the first time recently (Avery IPA) had a wonderful hop aroma and great hop complexity on the palette. After contacting the brewery, I learned they do no dry hopping at all....just a lot of late additions. Less mess for sure, though there could be a difference in pro-brewer hop extraction and home-brewer extraction.

Guess that was a lot more of a comment than an answer.

Impossible to answer. The two techniques extract different aroma oils.

I never dry hop an APA or do a flameout add. A typical APA lacks the IBU and complexity to support mega-hopping. (not that is stops anyone from doing it)
