What are the pros and cons of having flared or barbed fittings within the kegging system?

It seems to me that flared systems would make it easier to disconnect/connect the lines, but what's the downside? Price?

Barbed are great for things that will stay connected. Flare is great for things that you need to change.
Barbed are cheaper, good connection, but a pain to change.
Flare are more expensive, If you don't connect it right it leaks, but they are easy to change.
So if you need to change thing often, go Flare, if not go Barbed.

The flexibility, easy connect / disconnect make flair fitting nominal extra cost more than worth it IMHO
