Hey guys,
I am brewing an all grain IPA tomorrow and I can't tell if this is correct or if I need to change something. I have it set for a 5.5 gallon batch with an estimated OG of 1.065. Here is the instructions:
Total Water needed: 7.7 gal
Mash in 16.64 qts at 163 and step at 148 for 75 mins
Batch sparge with .54 at 168
Add water to achieve boil volume of 3.1 gal
Est. post boil volume 2.6 gal and est OG of 1.065
Add water to achieve final volume of 5.5 gal
Now, I am going for a light body if that helps, but the batch sparge of .5 gals seems a little strange to me as does the boil volume. Also, if my post boil gravity is 1.065, won't adding another 3 gallons change that drastically or does the program take that into account? I have only used the program a few times, but I have never had instructions like this before. Please help!
