Looking to do a wheat beer, but I can't seem to find flaked wheat or torrified wheat around... so I headed to the grocery store.

From what I understand, torrified wheat has been heated until popping ... what's the difference between that and the puffed wheat in the breakfast cereal isle? The only ingredient listed is "whole wheat". One difference may be that the cereal seems to be toasted.

I think I'll give it a go, in a recipe with 2-row and a bit of malted wheat I was able to get.

I'll let'cha'all know.

AFAIK, Puffed Wheat is nearly the same as Torrified.

The differences lie in the additives (sugar, preservatives, etc....).

I assume that the torrified/puffed is non-malted wheat.
