IMO not at all. In a DARK beer like that you would never see the difference. That being said, I typically plop in a whirloc in every batch I make "just cuz". Cheap, easy, and cant hurt.......
 
If you are meaning taste then no.If you are meaning clarity probably,but if you have it go ahead and toss it in the boil with 5 or 10 minutes remaining.
