Okay so I received an 8 gallon whiskey barrel for Christmas which I plan to use this upcoming weekend to age my RIS in. (Going with 4 wks primary then 2wks barrel) Kind of short aging with the RIS but I'd like to take it to my homebrew club for tasting on the 14th next month.

So here is my question, does anyone know how to clean the barrel? I can't fit my hand down in there so should I just pour in some hot soupy water and swish it around in there or maybe even some StarSan?

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys. Thanks! :D

don't use star san or soap. there shouldnt be a need to clean it but shine a light in and give it a peak to make sure no growth can be noticed. if the bung hole smells like whiskey, i'd just fill it with water to make sure theres no leaks then add the RIS
