I am trying to make sure my new hydrometer is working correctly.

I filled my cylinder up and measured the temperture which was 74 F.

My hydrometer read 1.000 on the scale.

Does this mean that my hydrometer is calibrated to 74F even though the hydrometer says 60F

How do I go about setting up a correction value table based on 74F?

No, it was out of the tab. I did bring the water down to 60F and it was 1.001 so really not much offset. I put .001 in the off set setting of my calulator and that brout the number to 1.001. I thought it would be a lot different at + 14F. But by putting the offset into the calulation that puts my hydrometer at 68F which up make the above 1.000 @ 74F 1.001 which would be correct.

Do I need some distilled water to calibrate correctly or is this close?

the only point being is that tap water is an unknown quantity due to minerals and such which can alter the SG slightly.
being .001 off at 60 deg. may be because of minerals in your water.
but for my taste i call it close enough and would take it from there.
