So I've been tinkering with a red nectar ale clone, as it is one of my top five favorite commercial beers.

Nectar Ales

Here is a side-by-side of the clone versus the real thing.

I need to slighty tinker with the finishing hops, but I'm happy with the results so far.

Oops - was traveling and didn't notice you asked for the recipe

8lb 2-row
1lb munich
1lb 60L
0.5lb 90L
0.5lb flaked barley

0.75oz chinook @ 60

If you make it, let me know what you think.

I couldn't find it with the search function on this forum, but when I Googled it I found a clone from HBT, haha. Thanks

I've given up using the search function on the iPhone app, it never works. On the other hand, I've never had a problem with the search function on the website. If I need to do a search on my phone, I'll pull up HBT in safari.

Just racked this to secondary and the color looks amazing. It smells great too. Thanks for posting the recipe. Cheers.

I know this is a long dead thread but I just tried this. Ended up using 1056 since lhbs was out of 001. I ended up with a much higher efficiency than expected so the color was more brown than red and the abv is too high but I like it. Mine obviously isn't spot on but it does have similar notes to the original.

I've now made this 2x in the last few months and I love it. Had to make a couple changes due to availability. I couldn't get Crystal 90l so I added 4oz more of 60l and 4oz of 120l, and swapped the Chinook for NB.

8 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 1 72.7 %
1 lbs 4.0 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (60.0 SRM) Grain 2 11.4 %
1 lbs Munich Malt (9.0 SRM) Grain 3 9.1 %
8.0 oz Barley, Flaked (1.7 SRM) Grain 4 4.5 %
4.0 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt -120L (120.0 SRM) Grain 5 2.3 %
0.75 oz Northern Brewer [7.80 %] - Boil 60.0 min Hop 6 20.0 IBUs
1.00 oz Cascade [6.80 %] - Boil 5.0 min Hop 7 4.6 IBUs
1.00 oz Mt. Hood [5.80 %] - Boil 5.0 min Hop 8 4.0 IBUs
