The Scotsman's Kilt

A Scotsman clad in kilt left the bar one evening fair
And one could tell by how he walked he'd drunk more than his share
He stumbled on until he could no longer keep his feet
Then staggered off into the grass to sleep beside the street.

chorus:
Ring ding diddle diddle i de o
Ring di diddle i o de
He staggered off into the grass to sleep beside the street.

Later on two young and lovely girls just happened by,
And one says to the other with a twinkle in her eye
You see yon sleeping Scotsman so strong and handsome built
I wonder if it's true what they don't wear beneath their kilt.

Ring ding diddle diddle i de o
Ring di diddle i o dill
I wonder if it's true what they don't wear beneath their kilt.

They crept up to the sleeping Scotsman quiet as could be
Lifted up his kilt above the waist so they could see
And there behold for them to view beneath his Scottish skirt
Was nothing but what God had graced him with upon his birth

Ring ding diddle diddle i de o
Ring di diddle i o dirth
There was nothing there but what God gave upon his birth

They marveled for a moment then one said we'd best be gone
But let's leave a present for our friend before we move along
They took a blue silk ribbon and they tied it in a bow
Around the bonnie star of the Scot's lifted kilt did show

Ring ding diddle diddle i de o
Ring di diddle i o doh
Around the bonnie star of the Scot's lifted kilt did show

The Scotsman woke to nature's call and stumbled toward a trees
Behind a bush he lifts his kilt and gawks at what he sees
Then in a startled voice he says to what's before his eyes
He said, "My friend I don't where you've been but I see you won first prize"

Ring ding diddle diddle i de o
Ring di diddle i o die
He said, "My friend I don't know where you've been but I see you won first prize"

I could't imagine wearing one of my kilts while brewing, considering the cost. I only wear them when playing the pipes.

I just bought a set of pipes in Scotland this past December. Waiting on them to finish production and ship out. Cant wait to start learning!

I have a lone Utilikilt. Love it, been told I look great in it. I'd like to get another or a similar "Utility style kilt" from another manufacturer. I don't think my 1/8 Scottish ancestry is enough to justify tartan.

I looked for a photo of me in it, somehow not one to be found. I'm also not that photogenic to begin with. What about all this I've heard about "Not having pictures of yourself online, or any information to protect identity?" Oh right, that went out of style with Netscape Navigator in 1995.

There was a list somewhere of manufacturers that were all part of some sort of agreement. Sort of a "These other vendors are cool and offer quality products" shout out. I can't seem to find it.

Pick up a casual kilt or semi traditional from USAkilts, it's a bespoke kilt you can abuse, wear out and about, and toss it in the wash! the guys Rocky has working with him are all perfectionists, my kilts from him are all amazing!

USAkilts -tartan kilts, wear one! Heritage is not an issue here, and so many universal tartans out there.

UTkilts -tartan and utility kilts, great guy to deal with!

Stillwater kilts -tartan kilts, best make space on your porch before ordering, he is legendary for his fast shipping....

Here is the pic from my interview article, it's Albannach tartan. (Universal) it's a USAkilts casual kilt, great for summertime, and for daily wear and dirt cheap considering it's made to measure!

I tried wearing mine around my ankles and it was still too short. bwahahahhaa!!!

more power to y'all, but they just ain't for me.

I started wearing a kilt at festivals about 10 years ago. But once I discovered the level of freedom and comfort a kilt provides I never limited myself to only wearing a kilt at festivals. Though I seldom attend festivals any more I own several Utilikilts and wear them frequently.

One little know benefit of the Utilikilt is "traffic control". People are bad about speeding on the road that I live on, despite the flashing School Zone sign. But I have found that when I am wearing a kilt while working in the front yard traffic seems to slow down to a more reasonable speed. :mug:

Even my dog Bruno was curious about what's under the kilt other than boots.:D

I'd slow down for that!

I wore this one for my good friend's wedding. He's from Scotland and you can guess from my name that I have Scottish heritage. His family came across for the event and the kilts were aplenty.

Bought a lone Utilikilt many years ago. Only really wear it 1-2 times a year when I go to a renn faire or some sort of festival. I guess I am a wuss about it. It is rather comfortable though. I always enjoy when I hear something like the kid asking "mommy, why is he wearing a skirt" and to see the looks of shock on peoples faces that I would <gasp> go out in public like that.

Will have to search for a photo for Sharona and the rest of you, but be warned, I am a skinny hairy ginger.

Same story here. One of the first times I wore it out to somewhere non-special was because I only own a few pairs of pants that are worthy of being worn in public. One pair was filthy, the other still hanging to dry, and the third happened to be missing in action. These things happen.

So I went on about my business with my UK. Walked into the (martial arts) class and nobody thought much of it. This was to be expected, they'd all seen my at the festivals. Only question I got was a "why today?" to which I answered "I misplaced my trousers."

I've educated most of my friends and family to hang back 10-20 feet while we're out. That way they get to enjoy all the double takes and looks on peoples faces as I stroll by. They get a big kick out of it, especially here in the South, where a lot of folks are closed minded (idiots, fools, ignorant), take your pick and just don't get it.

No photos of me brewing in my kilt but here is a shot of me at work in my kilt

My brewery when it gets named is Kilted Cat Brewing. Still working on the logo.

Since Photopilot brought up cats (great photo by the way), and all the brewing competitions I enter have "Those Damn Cats" listed as Co-Brewers. I'm going to use this as a shameless plug to show off the Late Great Tobias (aka Kitty T) because he was................lol
