Okay...so I want to brew a hoppy ale and this is what I was thinking...just let me know if y'all have any suggestions...if not I might brew this tomorrow.

10# 2 Row
1# Carapils
1# Vienna
0.5# Caramel 90L
0.5# Caramel 30L

1oz Sterling @ 60
2oz Vanguard @ 60
1oz liberty @ 20
1oz liberty @ 10
1oz Argentine cascade (3.5%) @ 5
:mug:

I think it looks like a good recipe. I'd think about tuning down the carapils, maybe try 0.5 lb. 1lb CaraPils and 1lb Other Crystal might be a bit much. Other than that, looks good.

I don't know if you already brewed this, but the Argentinian Cascades are way different from the US variety. Much more earthy and dank. Not necessarily a bad thing, but they are not what you expect from a cascade. I would liken them to an English noble hop. Good luck, and happy brewing!

yeah I didn't get a chance to brew this yet...I have not yet put this recipe in stone...I am still thinking about it. I will prolly make my decision a day or two before the brew day!

Okay so here is what I brewed this weekend:

10# 2Row
1# Vienna
1# Carapils
1/4# British Chocolate 410L

2oz Vanguard @ 60
1oz Sterling @ 60
1.5oz Liberty @ 15
0.5 KG @ 15
0.5oz Liberty @ 2
1oz argentine cascade @ 2

It turned out darker than I expected, but we'll see how it turns out...how would you guys classify this brew...It isn't an IPA, but not really a brown ale either:drunk: I have a feeling it is going to taste bad, but we'll see

Supper old thread revival. How were the vanguard hops for the 60 min addition? I'm Doing a APA tomorrow using vangard as a bittering hop.
