I have a Brewers Best Cream Ale Kit that is just DME and LME. The last kit I made had some specialty grains to add.

My LHBS suggested adding a lb of Munich 10L and 1/2lb of Cara Pils to boost it a little bit. Does that sound like a good/bad/meh idea?

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

CaraPils doesn't really taste like anything, it just adds body and head retention, which is fine. I definitely wouldn't add Munich malt. Doing a mini-mash with some 6-row or 2-row and flaked maize, and maybe even just a handful of flaked oats (you wouldn't want to overdo it), would probably be your best choice.

The CaraPils is a good idea. Don't add any Munich. Some Crystal 10L would be OK, but don't overdo it!

If by boosting you mean increasing the alcohol content...simple cane sugar is a typical addition for Cream Ales.

Cream ales should be bright and crisp. Cara and Munich will add body and maltiness.

For a 5.5 gallon batch, you can add up to one pound of cane (table) sugar to help the beer dry out and become lighter in flavor.
