I think I'm going to switch to electric. Need to get out of the kitchen and stove & heat stick is getting old. So, electric it is :ban:

I got a keg to turn into an e-kettle but, It's aluminum :confused: Does it have a SS liner? It's a New Castle keg that's already been de-commissioned.

Any problems using that or should I source another kettle?
 
I guess I knew it could be used. But is it SS inside???

Any special tips/tricks to mounting an element in it? I was going to solder a nut to the outside for the element but now it looks like that's out. Maybe find the right drill/tap and go that route?

You can do it weldless. Cut a 1.25" hole, insert the element, and put one of these kits on the inside of the kettle:
