Currently when I add hops from my kits, I add it directly into the wort. I have heard that some of you use nylon bags for this. I assume this will make the wort a bit cleaner. When using a bag, can I add the second addition of hops to the first in the same bag? (mixing them)

The reason I'm asking is because when racking to the primary the racking cane plugged up a couple of times. I was hoping that the bag my keep the wort a bit cleaner.

Maybe I should just strain the wort instead of racking.

Any thoughts?

Check out this little bit of dohickey some folks came up with. You might like it:

With that, you can add your hops whenever you want, they still float pretty freely in the wort and you don't have to try to add your 15 minute addition into a sack that's soaked in boiling water.

Me.... I just throw 'em all in and pour my wort through a strainer into the fermenter.
