I also like maltier beers. I made the mistake of making an Irish Red Ale as my first brew. All I can say is I have a lot leftover.
There is a graph that gets posted fairly often that shows IBU vs OG - and has different regions for Hoppy or Malty flavored. I made myself a list of some of common recipes kits based on their Hoppyness or Maltyness. I know this is a sweeping generalization, but it helped me prioritize which beers I wanted to make.
