Flyfishing and Homebrewing is there any connection?

My go to rod is a 4 wt that put together with parts from Dan Craft. There is just something about a quality fly rod that you built yourself. I would not trade it for the best commercial pole. OK maybe I would for one of these.

It's my first year fly fishing and my second year home brewing.

Fly fisherman, rod builder (hobby only), home brewer, scientist (cancer research).

I fish for wild browns and bookies in the drift less region of southeast Minnesota. Occasional carp as well.

I first noticed this connection by watching brewing tv, Michael and jake are bug slingers. I also add soccer fan, and jake matches that as well.

It's possible that the real connection is that brewing crosses all types, and with the increased popularity your bound to get some with the same mix of interests.

My (current) go to rod is a 2wt 8'6" dan craft rod I built (? Five rivers blank). It's insanely fast to the point where it feels more like a 3-4 wt, but I fish it with a 2 wt line. Fun stuff
