Hello,
I am doing my first batch of beer( an American style IPA,og:1.060), and the instructions are for two stage fermentation and says 1week in primary and 2 weeks in secondary. For now I only a have a fermenting bucket(no secondary fermenter), and I was wondering how long I should ferment the beer.
Thanks for any help, James

leave it in the primary the whole time, no need to move your beer around from one container to the other unless you are doing something special. this being your first beer you are probably not going to be doing anything but hoping your beer turns out fine, which it will.

Til it's done, duh! Seriously though, you can leave it in primary for three weeks if you want. If you have a stable gravity reading over three days or so, it's finished and can be bottled.
