Bought brand new 40 qt aluminum pot -
should i just boil water in it (hate to waste the propane)
Or stick it in the oven for 30 minutes at 350?

Thanks guys

I just bought a 32qt alum 2 weeks ago and researched this same question. People here say either works just fine. So I was going to do the oven but couldn't get the pot to fit. So I had to waste the propane. I filled it full and boiled for over 30 min. When I was done I poured the hot water on some weeds and it killed them nicely!

If you can fit it in the oven, have at it. That'll work just fine.

There was no way I was fitting my 15 gallon in the oven, so I filled it with with water and boiled it for around 30 minutes, if I recall.
