I just bottled my second batch and was cleaning the spigot to my bottling bucket when I found a clump of grease. I don't think it is any sort of beer residue. It is clean and transparent but slightly cloudy - very much like a bearing grease or vaseline. I suspect it shipped to me like this and perhaps turning the valve worked some grease out during bottling.

Is this normal? I fear some could have made its way in to the beer. Is there any dander here? Thanks...

It is probably a food-grade grease like keg-lube. I wouldn't worry.

Dander, on the other hand, makes me sneeze.
