Does anyone know of any competitions around the Pittsburgh or Erie PA area?

I've done some websearches and I haven't found anything yet.

Thanks

let's add cleveland to the that question

i have a brother in cleveland so i'd be fine with a competition there also.

Thanks it looks like the closest I'm going to get is Buffalo.

I thought this would be a good first post for me. Hillsville PA is dead center between Pitt and Erie.

You can check out beertown.org for more brew day info under homebrewing, we have a site listing there.

Hope you can make it. The last two years there were great. Here is another update from Gregg @ our LHBS in Struthers OH.

Remember that if you brew that day or bring beer to enter in the tasting or both you get in free.
Those just coming to sample and enjoy the day need tickets. ($10 in advance at the PumpHouse or Vintage Estates)
This includes beer samples, the band, games, and snacks.

Brewer's who get there early can partake in the annual Big Breakfast. If you can bring anything to add to the frying pan let me know (like eggs, bacon, cheese, peppers, tortillas, sausage, etc.) We always make breakfast burritos.

The homebrew contest will be like the last two years, voted on by the public, voting for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place with cash prizes and first place winning the YAHOO BIG BREW CUP.

I also could use donated prizes for the raffle (beer related items are great, but anything will be appreciated) So stop at your local tavern and see if they have any promo beer items to donate. Gift certificates work well. T-shirts etc.

We will have the keg toss competition again so start your training.
And if the weather is good we will have bocce, ringers & horseshoes.

Brewer's are allowed to spend the night so bring a tent and bag.

We could use some firewood for the fire that night, if anyone has access to any let me know.

There will be a person BBQing through out the day, please purchase your lunch or dinner from them, last year it was awsome.

The band is the Tiger Maple String band (bluegrass)
We have an after jam around the fire so please bring your acoustic instruments.

Any other questions please email me or call me.

Brewer's can get there anytime after 8am, public gates open at 2pm.

Thanks, Gregg

BeerSchool is this wednesday at the Boxcar Lounge at the B&O

I meant to post this earlier but I forgot. I entered this contest last year and it was very nice.

The dropoffs are due by this Saturday (7/3). The nice thing is if you can't make the judging they'll still send you the results / feedback.
