Been brewing pilsners for several years here on the farm. They seemed to be pretty fair, so I never worried about it. But you boys and girls here on this forum have been going on about water so much, I had mine tested.
My question is, is this good pilsner water?

pH 7.7
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) Est, ppm 86
Electrical Conductivity, mmho/cm 0.14
Cations / Anions, me/L 1.2 / 1.1 ppm
Sodium, Na 3
Potassium, K 2
Calcium, Ca 18
Magnesium, Mg 2
Total Hardness, CaCO3 53
Nitrate, NO3-N <0.1 (SAFE)
Sulfate, SO4-S 11
Chloride, Cl 5
Carbonate, CO3 < 1
Bicarbonate, HCO3 15
Total Alkalinity, CaCO3 12
Total Phosphorus, P 0.44
Total Iron, Fe 0.04

I'd say that this is good pilsner water w/o any modification. This water has lower mineral content than my R/O water.

Add 2% acid malt and you'll be good.

If you want to add salts I suggest gypsum and CaCL2 to get Ca to 50.

I'm with Kai. AJ has an aversion to sulfate. However, he is probably correct about wanting even lower sulfate for a very fine Boh Pils, but there are plenty of other Pils that are created with water similar to this.

Great water! Do have some pickling lime available if you want to delve into darker beer styles with more acidic grists.

Maybe not that bad. According to my TDS meter my water is at 35 tds. It has been like this for years now.
