ive been repitching on yeast cakes and have had good results.(thanks to very good advice). the rule has always been lighter to darker. i want to go to a dark to a red or whatever color it turns out. is this a bad idea?

If your not particular as to the color, it will probably be ok. Just be sure any flavors between the two will mesh as opposed to clash. The reason for going lighter to darker has just as much to do with covering one flavor with another as it does to the color.

my next recipe was drawn up to try something like this. i thought it might give it a awsemone taste. i also thought some of the experienced brewers my have tried this, thinking the same thing and wanted to know there results. have a guiness type clone in now and was going to rack and put a red ale recipe in.
