I am brewing my first AG batch tonight and the best thermometer I have is my floarting thermometer. In Ice water, it reads 30 F and in boiling water it reads 206 F. Not sure how much to add when figuring my mash temperatures. Please help!! Thanks.

Boiling point will depend on atmospheric pressure so unless you're at sea level your boiling point will be less than 212F. Go with the 2 degree difference you got from the ice water and you'll be good.

nm999 is correct. Liquid-in-glass thermometers are essentially linear response devices. For the purposes of brewing, you can factor the 2 degree offset into your calculations and roll on!

Throw that glass thermometer away. You will break it in your beer one day.
