This is my first year with Hops.. Growing two rhizomes in 20" pots this year and transplanting to a more permanent location next year that is under construction (bed is done, just need the trellis).. Anyway my plants are growing like mad here in the south texas summer heat (6" per day growth)..
I noticed this morning when I went out to check on them that they have small flower-like buds coming out of the junction of the bine and each leaf stem (all of them except the few closest to the soil and the newest 1-2 leaves).. Is this the location that the hops may potentially form? I am not expecting to see a harvest this year, but it sure does look like they are trying to do something, pretty early too by the info I've gathered..
