Sadly, it does not. However, it does alleviate the symptoms long enough for you to fall asleep.

For colds, the trick is to drink so much that you drive your BAC high enough to kill any bacteria you've got floating around!

Yuengling was allowed to brew porter during Prohibition to sell to pregnant women because it was so high in vitamins and nourishment (according to a tour of their brewery opened in 1829).

Significant amounts of alcohol actually reduce the body's immune response and could prolong an upper respiratory infection. A small amount (e.g., Nyquil) doesn't really have an effect, but nevertheless... take advantage of a cold to let your liver heal
