Tasting Notes
scored 38 pts for 2nd place in 2009 HBT BJCP competition
This is the 2nd year brewing this recipe. It is based on Yuris thunderstruck pumpkin ale. This beer has won 2nd place in two competitions, scoring a 38 in the 2009 HBT competition, and scoring 39.5 in the 2008 Lancaster Brewers Showdown.

I used 73 oz of pumpkin in the mash, that was roasted in a 350 oven until caramelized. Allow the pumpkin to cool to room temp prior to mashing so it doesn't mess with your mash temp. With a pound of rice hulls it was still a difficult sparge, but never actually got stuck.

Mash at 153 for 60 minutes
keg at 3 weeks, and don't touch it for at least a month more.

how much mash water I need... It says to mash at 122 for 30min.. then 155 for 60 min for the Abita Amber Ale kit I have... Alll Grain... 7.5 lbs.. and like 9 oz of Pumpkin mix with 1 cup Brown Sugar...

I have ac chat from Charlie that says Grain and Adjunct.. is that for grain and pumpkin?

Just made ten gallons of this. I used a little less pumpkin and Hallertau. Looks like a good recipe.

I made it with .5 oz of warrior and 1oz hallertau. also i baked 4 of the small cans (15oz) of the puree and put one directly into mash.

Sorry the four baked went in mash the single went in boil. Also used wlp 007 instead of the recommended wlp 060.
