Hey i got some grains for a beer that i never got around to brewing. They have been in wrapped in double plastic bags in my garage in the deep freezer for about 5-6 months should i even attempt to use them or just buy more?

I'm a firm believer in using fresh ingredients for the best beers, but 5 or 6 months stored properly like you've done...I wouldn't hesitate to use them.

My son had crushed grains for two batches that he was forced to leave in the plastic bags for around 6 months, due to a move. When he made the beer, it was just fine (and I have tasted some). Needless to say, there are lots of variables here. The biggies would be how fresh the stuff was when you got it, how well it was sealed from the air, and the storage temperature. So- about the only thing to do is brew with these grains & see....
