Maybe I'm paranoid, but I would be reluctant to use those for food products without understanding their use-history more. I would pass. Maybe I'm paranoid.
 
They were originally used to store soda syrup.

A member here uses one of these (or similar) as his 50g boil pot for group brews...

I'd thought about posting the link here too. If only I had the room...
 
I got two of the same type a couple of years ago. A friend helped weld the side bung closed, added a coupler, and took off the end with a plasma cutter.

Originally I used one for boiling and one for mashing. I have a new mash tun now so I converted one to a fermenter. Burner stand is custom welding to support the boiler and accommodate the nat gas jet burner.

Quite a sight to see 50 gal of stout boiling. :rockin:
