Been sick since yesterday afternoon and I'm hurting tonight. I just took some Aleve Cold so I can get some form of sleep. Other than that, I pound green tea and Airborne. Any good remedies?

+1 on the green tea. 100% orange or apple juice, some good sleep and a couple pills of your favorite cold medicine.

Cough and blow as much crap out of your lungs you can handle, wash hands often.

I guess thats what always works best for me. Its kind of standard I guess...

I drink Gypsy Cold Care Tea (Traditional Medicinals brand - see your local health food store) mixed with lost of honey and a shot or two of Jameson before bed and lots of OJ and zinc tabs throughout the day. Hope you feel better soon !

Skal!

I just got over a bad flu myself, this is what really saved the day! Expensive (the 1200mg) but worth it! Over the counter too!

I felt better soon after taking these horse pills :)

Booze. Drink so much that your BAC becomes so high that nothing can survive in it.

/Tried that a couple times meself
//Not so sure it worked out...

Whiskey is a good choice for that! :tank:

+1 on the Airborne.
I also pound down and Odwalla C-Monster, a super high vitamin C fruit drink.
I finish things off with my "Cold Killer" chicken soup.

Fill your favorite stock pot about half full with chicken broth.
Throw in:
(2) jalapenos, cut in half
(1) lemon, cut in quarters
(1) piece of lemon grass, pounded to release oils
1/2 dozen or so peppercorns
(1) tsp red chili flakes (or more)
(1) onion, cut in quarters

simmer all of this for about half an hour,
strain out all of the solids and discard

while this is simmering, cook up some of your favorite noodles,
shred up some cooked chicken meat (grocery store rotisserie chickens work well if you don't have any leftovers from last nights grilling)
dice up some carrots, celery, onion, bok choy, etc... what ever your favorite vegetables are

throw some noodles, chicken, and diced vegetables into a bowl, ladle on some of your chicken broth, and grab a box of kleenex.

No problem...
but don't forget the kleenex...
not only does this stuff nourish the body,
but it REALLY clears out the sinuses...

you can adjust the heat levels as you see fit...
the spicier the better...

Airbourn, Vitamin C and TONS of WATER!

I don't go over the recommended AirBourn suggestions, but I do pop an extra tab of Vitamin C in with the regimen... I also have tried the chewy Zicam thingers... but I stick to the AirBourn...

not sure if it works tho...

A friend of mine swears by his remedy. Eating whole cloves of raw garlic!

Never could bring myself to try it. I LOVE garlic, but hoy!

Suppose it would work in keeping you from spreading the cold to other people :cross:
