Strikes me of trendy, off the wall DIY stuff that's all the rage among young techies.

Consider the following

Tonight's meeting will orient mostly around planning upcoming projects: on deck are a bio-diesel-powered go-kart (although electric is also on the table), an evening of building your own theremins, and a lesson on distilling spirits.

It will also orient around drinking beer. I may also break out that new smoker and smoke some dank meats, yo.

Everyone knows you gotta start smoking that dank meat at least two hours before commencing therimin building or you'll get an upset tummy.

YouTube - Theremin Lesson One

I've watched a lot of theremin videos. I actually have a musical saw and theremin seems to be the next logical step, but between the 5 guitars, the uke, the mandolin, the saw, the fun effects pedals, the brewing equipment, and my record collection, I seem to not have a huge hole in my budget for a theremin. :)

If this is turning into a theremin thread, you have to watch this video. Listen with decent speakers or headphones and check out the walking bass line in 'Autumn Leaves'.
