Hey,
Sorry if this doesn't technically belong in the beer part of the forum.
I've read you shouldn't make a beer starter from refined sugar, and assume this is to do with not wanting yeast to skip more complex sugars like maltose during fermentation.
Would a starter made up of sugar and nutrient be ok for a alcoholic ginger beer made from cane sugar or am I missing something?
Cheers

I think that would be ok. If you used the same sugar that will be in your "wort" that should be fine.

If you want a very simple ginger beer recipe that DOES use malt, try this one. I loved it. I used S-04 instead of the GBP.

Good luck!
