I'm told it doesn't cool anymore. I have no idea what's wrong with it (I'm hoping to look at it saturday morning), but if the compressor is bad would it be worth it to pick it up? Anybody have any idea what it would cost to replace the compressor? It's a Magic Chef 7.2 Cu. Ft. Model MCCF7WBX

If you have a large amount of spare room you could use the non working as a fermenting chamber that is uncooled but capable of being heated if needed. If you live in an area that will reqire cooling like I do in Florida then pass on the broke freezer and keep looking. An appliance store that hauls off trades and old units may have just what you are looking for cheap. You just want the reefer guts to work, your going to replace the control system anyway to accomodate heating. Just my .02 from the peanut gallery.
