I bought one, never used it. The lowest temp setting on it is 200 degrees. So it might be able to control a boil but that's about it.
 
I have heard that even in its temp range, it does a mediocre job. Meaning if you wanted it to control mash temp, you may be +/-10F... which is basically worthless.

Yeah, I suppose we cannot expect much from something that is designed to loosely control temps in a fryer. Especially at that price.

Ohh well.
