My mind is wondering at work today, so I am just trying to think of an off the wall kind of brew to use up 5 ounces of chinook hops or so......I am thinking chocolate malt, oats , dark crystal and two row....and hop the crap out of it..

14# two row
8 oz C150/C120 or Special B
8 oz C75
8 oz C50
4 oz chocolate
2 # rolled oats
2 oz chinook (AA%10.5) at 60
2 oz chinook (AA%10.5) at whirlpool

Belgian Yeast?

anybody have any off the wall ideas for something different I could brew up?

It's not very off the wall, but an Arrogant Bastard clone would be a simple and tasty way to use up some Chinook:

Type: All Grain
Batch Size: 5.00 gal
Efficiency: 70.00
Est Original Gravity: 1.073
Est Final Gravity: 1.017
Estimated Alcohol by Vol: 7.29 %
Bitterness: 80.6 IBU
Est Color: 19.1 SRM

13 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 89.66 %
1 lbs 8.0 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt -120L (120.0 SRM) Grain 10.34 %
1.25 oz Chinook [13.00 %] (60 min) Hops 49.9 IBU
1.00 oz Chinook [13.00 %] (30 min) Hops 30.7 IBU
1.00 oz Chinook [13.00 %] (0 min) (Aroma Hop-Steep) Hops -

1 Pkgs Dry English Ale (White Labs #WLP007) Yeast-Ale

Yeah I made an Arrogant Bastard clone last year with all chinook and while it was slightly less arrogant than the original, it was a damn fine beer.

I have made two different versions of AB clone, but I have yet to make the version that is all two row plus C150 or C120. I also have been using WLP001 or Pacman so I think I was probably missing out on some of the WLP007 esters. I do have WLP007 in house know........but I would like to add a twist to a bastard recipe I suppose:

14# two row
1.25# C150

I will use C150 because I have heard that stone has sacks of that stuff laying all over the brewery.

I do like the idea of a 30 minute chinook addition as well........I wonder how oats would be in the recipe?
