Hey everyone. I am planning to do a west coast red ale inspired by Pizza Port's Shark Bite Red, the recipe for which I heard on Can You Brew It. My plan as follows

5.5 gal batch
7 gal boil

8# extra light DME
2# Crystal 75
0.5# Crystal 120
1 oz Magnum @ 60min
2 oz Falconers Flight @ whirlpool
Nottingham yeast

I ran it through brewery's friend and came up with:
OG 1.059
FG 1.014
IBU 53-62 (tinseth v rager)
SRM 19.3

I am hoping that the bittering hops will cut through any overt sweetness from the crystal and the whirlpool hops will compliment with a hoppy character without dominating the malt. I am also toying with subbing in some munich LME or adding a half pound of victory to the steep, but may keep it simpler the first time out.

Any thoughts? Cheers

I didn't run it thru beer smith so I am going on your numbers. I would cut back the 75 crystal to maybe a pound. Also the Yeast seems not quite west coast. I havn't used it before but US-05 or wlp001 is closer to what pizza port would use. good luck
