Tasting Notes
quite smooth and easy drinking with enough body to be enjoyable
Single Infusion Mash at 154F for 60 minutes, 168F mashout for 15 minutes.

My efficiency was 66% as I performed a NO sparge mash. Added 18 qts of water for initial mash, added an additional 19 qts of water for mash out. Drained to boil kettle to collect ~7 gallons of wort. Boiled for 90 minutes and was left with ~5.5 gallons post boil.

Malt
8 lbs 10.9 oz Simpsons Golden Promise (3.0 SRM) Grain 1 71.2 %
1 lbs 3.8 oz Munich Malt (9.0 SRM) Grain 2 10.2 %
1 lbs 0.5 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (60.0 SRM) Grain 3 8.5 %
14.0 oz Honey Malt (25.0 SRM) Grain 4 7.2 %
6.0 oz Oats, Flaked (1.0 SRM) Grain 5 3.0 %

Hops
1.40 oz Fuggle [5.30 %] - Boil 60.0 min Hop 6 23.3 IBUs
0.20 oz Fuggles [4.50 %] - Boil 5.0 min Hop 7 0.6 IBUs

Yeast
1 pkg Scottish Ale (Wyeast Labs #1728) [124.21 ml]

I let this one ferment at 67F for 21 days, cold crashed for 3 days, then racked to a keg. Fantastic!!

I really enjoyed this beer a lot, the Golden Promise Malt is fantastic.. the next time I brew it I am going to try leaving out the Munich and upping the Golden Promise, just to see!

Just brewed a batch based on this recipe last night, had to substitute Maris Otter, and used WLP028 Edinburgh yeast. My biab setup must have a pretty good efficiency because I ended up with an OG of 1.070! The 1.2L starter has this batch fermenting like a churning monster. I'm looking forward to this one.

How did the MO and the 028 batch turn out?
