How long will warm yeast cake last?

I racked off my yeast cake last Sunday but kept an inch of beer on top of it. I had planned to pitch on top of the cake right away, but I've been delayed a week. Will it still be good, or is the spoilage risk too strong?

If your worried then wash it?

Did you keep it refrigerated, if not wash it, make a starter then go from there.
