So I have been reading about people doing apple juice lacto starters and I did some research and found that lacto does really well with more amino acids. So I happened to have some cherry juice(way more AmAc than apples) and I decided to make a starter with that instead. After about 3 days I didn't notice any activity from the lacto so I decided to pitch some grain in it and after 5 days (the last two I was out of town) there is now this splotchy growth on top (seems normal) but also on top of that is this contrasting white hairy mold with very small, spore like black specks on it. Should I be concerned here? I did a no boil on my first berliner weisse but seriously considering doing a 15 min on this one just to potentially kill whatever this may be, if it's even worth it. Any thoughts/recommendations?
