Planning on brewing a Mild tomorrow estimated OG of 1.034. WLP002 is the yeast I am using...Do I need to make a starter or is that a waste of time? I got on Mrmalty and it calculated that I should do a 1L starter which I thought seemed a little big for this beer.

Looks like you need 1.4 vials without a starter. Remember, these are optimal amounts. With that gravity, I'm pretty sure you'll be fine w/o starter. Starters are not a waste of time, and with higher OG, they're pretty much required when using liquid yeast.

OK so I assume from this I might as well do a starter....going to fire up the stove. Thanks. Happy 4th.

You've got time to do a starter. And it will proof your yeast as well as increasing cell count. Good luck.
