I have a bag of dry malt extract that I use for yeast starters. However, it appears to have clumped up and hardened like brown sugar would.

Is it still okay to use?

Yes, use it, no problem.

A grater or food processor will break it up if you want it to be powder again. You can just chunk the DME rocks into your boil and that will work fine, too, I think. I only use DME for starters and the big rocks don't fit into my flasks.

Make sure to keep sealed in a bag or this will always happen.
