check out this place and what they claim....the thing that gets me is "an entire brewing system and a CA liquor license for $50,000"...anyone heard of these guys?

$50,000 for an pre-mix extract system? That seems about right. I think it's pretty high for what you get, though.

Keep in mind that you'd also need a "brewery license", which is not the same as a liquor license!

From the bottom of the page: Call the Federal BATF and request a brewpub license packet. Operating a brewpub requires only a refundable bond of $1000 and Federal tax of $500 a year. The federal excise tax is $3.50 a keg. A State brewery permit must also be obtained. This is not the same as a liquor license. Contact the TTB at ttb.gov for a brewpub application.
